My name is Lava Nosenkis. You might know me as AdGirl.
I am obsessed with creative communication, and I’m not afraid to admit it.
I also have a bit of a “thing” for any-and-everything that inspires an insight and a heavenly big idea. I emphasize heavenly.
Before sharpening my knuckles amongst the (m)ad men and women of the industry, I was a graduate of York University and Seneca College with a B.A. in Communications and a Diploma in Creative Advertising. As much as I loved YorkU, the two years spent under AdGuy’s care at Seneca@York hold some of my most significant post-secondary experiences. Classes that I never wanted to miss, real client pitches, insane deadlines, independent and group projects – they are what really prepped me for the big leagues. And let me assure you that everything you heard about the big leagues is true.
My ad agency experience with the likes of DDB and Cundari has placed clients like Glad, Armor All, Brita, Green Works, Scotiabank International, Slava Vodka, George Brown College, John Frieda, Eli Lilly, and new business initiatives on my res’. (Prepping for new business pitches are def amongst the favs).
In addition to working in creative advertising, I’ve co-produced events with Ford Entertainment – a half-time show for a North American FedEx Sales Conference for which I cast Japanese Taiko drummers, Ukrainian dancers and Indian fire eaters), as well as a street fashion show for George London – runway, ferris wheel ‘n all.
I’ve also worked with the James Brown Soul Generals as part of Toronto’s Luminato, and re-positioned dance workshops with brand initiatives for Luther Brown and Ryan Robinson of Do Dat Entertainment (where I also first started this blogging thing, documenting stand-out ads and T.O. features).
If you asked me why I got into this business, I’d tell you that working with the most intelligent, inspired and strategic individuals to come up with compelling creative business solutions makes my clock tick. LOUD.
If you asked me why I started Adventures of AdGirl, I’d tell you that I did it to explore and document inspiration and big heavenly ideas.
Adventures of AdGirl gives you a glimpse into what bursts my bubble, what inspires me, and my humble opinion on what you might want to place on your radar. Informing through entertainment that matters is the goal – and that, to me, is a good look.
Expect nightly bursts of inspiration ( “AdGirl Nightly“) and interviews with current and up-and-coming Toronto talent from various industries to provide insights into their field as well as their take on the creative space (“Through the Eyes of…“).
You’ll notice I also like to live tweet from industry events, and follow up with lil’ AdGirl reviews.
The rest is for you to discover and take from it what you will.
Before I go, I’ll leave you with this:
Sincerely,
~Lava :: AdGirl~
