LLBH

It stands for #LoveLettersBrokenHearts

…and it’s a one-of-a-kind mixtape collaboration between two of Canada’s finest – 2009 Female DJ of the Year Lissa Monet (whose eyes I had the pleasure of ‘looking through’ last summer) and 2009 Male DJ of the Year – PPlus (who I had the pleasure of working with at Socially Connected and who mentioned the project to me after the event, sparking my curiousity with his excitement about joining creative forces with Lissa).

The mixtape focuses on “the joy of love, the anguish of heart break and the songs that emotionally affect us”. It features the likes of Hoobastank, Drake, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Melanie Fiona, amongst many others, and is bound to strike a chord or two with ya. Besides the blended music perfection, what also deserves a highlight is the stellar artwork/packaging by Darkie. I’ve always been a fan of strength through simplicity, and that’s just what Darkie accomplished.

The clean usage of red, white, and black, the emotional yet minimalist animation of the universal heart and the hand-written track list all contribute to the creative strength of the piece. Way to go guys, it’s a stand out.
